Walter G. Cooper's Obituary
Walter G. Cooper, 77, lifetime resident of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 22, 2015. He was born on July 4, 1938, the son of the late Gordon and Marion (Horning) Cooper. Walter was a devout Catholic and communicant of St. Daniel’s Church. He retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. Walter was an avid golfer, and enjoyed hunting and bowling. He also loved watching sports; golf, SU, NY Giants and Yankees, and listening to Elvis. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with and mentoring his grandson Zachary.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Edward and Gary Cooper.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Shirley (Losito) Cooper; his two sons, Daniel (Wendy) Cooper of Cicero and Matthew (Lisa) Cooper of Syracuse; one grandson, Zachary, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 am on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Walter’s life at 9:00 am in St. Daniel’s Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
