William C. "Bill" Corrigan's Obituary
William Charles “Bill” Corrigan, 67, of Liverpool, went to be with the Lord after a valiant battle against cancer on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was born in Utica, NY to Jane Toukatly and Joseph C. Corrigan. Bill graduated from Notre Dame High School class of 1968 and Le Moyne College on May 20, 1972. He then married his loving wife on June 17, 1972.
Bill, along with his brother John, owned and operated Jones-McIntosh Tobacco Co. in Syracuse, NY and prior to that J. Corrigan Wholesale in Utica, NY. Bill worked very hard at building both businesses, and, along with his brother, made both a success.
He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family members, and always had a beautiful smile or a hand to help others up.
He was a member of the Lakeshore Yacht and Country Club where he enjoyed the friendship of his golfing partners and was a tough competitor. He also was a member of Timber Banks Golf Club and enjoyed many hours of frustration on that course. Bill is also a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Utica, NY since 1974.
Bill was a man of high standards and always wanted to bring out the best in his fellow man and a believer in social justice.
He was predeceased by his mother Jane in 1985 and his father August in 2012.
Bill leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years, Valerie (Zuchowski) Corrigan; his son, Daniel and daughter-in-law, Lindsay; his two beloved granddaughters, Alyssa J. and Brooke M.; his brother John and his wife Christie; his sister Maureen I. Corrigan and her children, Becky, Craig and Jennifer; his great-nephews and great-niece, Matt, Zac and Emma. He is also survived by several cousins and family members on both sides of his family.
Bill’s family would like to express a special thank you to all the nurses at the oncology wing of St. Joseph’s Hospital. They treated him as if he were a family member and me as well. God bless them all for the work they do for their patients. Also, special thanks to Karen and Norman who were so supportive and caring during this difficult time.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Sacred Heart Church, Cicero. Family and friends may call from 12:00 – 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
