Dr. William R. Falcone's Obituary
Dr. William R. Falcone, 91, of Camillus, passed away peacefully at St. Camillus. He was born in Syracuse to the late Rosario and Innocenza (Matteo) Falcone.
Bill enlisted in the Navy during WWII from 1943 to 1946. He graduated from North High School, Siena College and the University of Buffalo School of Dentistry in 1954. He practiced dentistry for 50 years in Solvay and was a member of the American Dental, NY State Dental and the Onondaga County Dental Society. His civic organizations included the Solvay School Board of Education, President of the Solvay Geddes Lions Club and the Italian American Athletic Club. He also enjoyed his many years at Lake Shore Yacht and Country Club. He was an avid SU sports fan serving on the football chain gang. Bill became involved as a Director of the Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame and volunteered at St. Camillus. Bill was a dedicated person, loved people and had a great sense of humor. His family was the center of his life. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Camillus for many years.
He is predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Kathleen Falcone (William) and his sister, Mattia Falcone (Armstrong).
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Falcone of 62 years. They have five children, William Falcone, Nancy Ann Falcone (Mark Vasas), Sandra (Duane) Brown, David (Kathryn) Falcone, and Matthew (Heather) Falcone; eleven grandchildren, Tara, Michael Falcone, Jonathan, Jenelle Janiak, Sarah, Patrick, Tyler Brown, Michelle, Mark Falcone, Isabella, Sophia Falcone; his siblings, Joseph Falcone, Marie McCarthy, John Orizino, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at St Joseph’s Church, Camillus. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 PM on Friday, September 30, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
