Dad as I think about your life, you always said you were a survivor. How do I even think about writing about your life with so many chapters. There are some parts that were shared with me, while my brothers and sisters had many of their own chapters.
You had your childhood chapter that probably only a few outside your brothers and sister knew about. My mother shared a different chapter with your times with her in high school and raising a big family.
There probably isn't anyone but you who knew about your chapter and time spent in the war in Korea. You always told everyone that you grew up with your children. I think that was true.
You were always proud of the job you had for so many years driving tractor trailers. I inherited your love for the road as I still love my own road trips out in California.
There is so much more I want to write and share about your long life and people you met along the way and places you traveled.
I want to thank you, which I have over the years for helping with my mother’s family as I explore my ancestry and family history. Even if information you told me turned out not to be exactly correct, that information pointed me in the right direction.
As I sit here at your kitchen table, so many memories come to mind. Some that I haven’t thought of in years.
Thank you for the life you gave me.
