William J. "Bill" Pucine's Obituary
William J. “Bill” Pucine, 84, passed away on Friday surrounded by his family, succumbing to Alzheimer’s. Bill was born in Utica, NY, and resided his entire life in the Town of Salina. After graduating high school, Bill entered the General Electric apprenticeship training program and graduated as a design draftsman. During the Cold War, he worked in the heavy military division on many radar, sonar, and other military projects. He ended his working career retiring from Carrier UTC as a design draftsman. Bill was a proud U.S. Army veteran and took great pride in flying his American flag every day on the flagpole he erected after 9/11 in his front yard. Bill was a 5th degree black belt in judo and taught self-defense in the North Syracuse adult education program for several years. He was an avid fisherman and especially enjoyed fishing trips to Canada with his buddies.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Theresa (Nole) Pucine, two sisters, and four brothers.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Armerinda “Mindy” (Mazza) Pucine; his daughter, Anne Mania; his two cherished grandchildren, Alyssa and Ethan Mania; five sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday May 4th, 2019 at noon at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Utica, NY. Friends and family may call on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to noon prior to the funeral service.
The family would like to extend thanks to Jennifer and Catherine at the VA for their thoughtfulness, as well as the staff and nurses on the 3rd floor at Elderwood. Also, a very special thank you to Bill’s niece, Christine Maslona.
