Yiorgos Konstantinos Kyriakopoulos' Obituary
Yiorgos Konstantinos Kyriakopoulos, 62, passed away tragically in a head on collision while visiting Greece. Born August 30, 1955, Yiorgos left home at age 12 and jumped ship in New York City at age 15. He had his own produce company for many years in Manhattan and New Jersey. He also was the owner of the High Street Café in Morristown, NJ. In later years he drove for several trucking companies including Road One.
Mr. Kyriakopoulos was married to Judy Decker from 1976 to 1985. He recently moved to Syracuse, NY in 2012. He was the proud owner of the Penfield Building (the building with the Little Red House on top). He was a collector of cars, trucks and friendships.
He is predeceased by his mother Dimitra, father Konstantinos, and brothers, Gregorio and Thanasis.
He is survived by his brother Themis; his cousin Yiorgos; his domestic partner, Clelia Ilacqua; his three daughters, Rachel Licausi (husband, Jamison), Sarah Kyria (fiancé, Ash) and Ashley Kyriakopoulou; five grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Yiorgos will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, the song in his heart, and his joy for life.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 10 am – 12 pm, followed by a funeral service in celebration of Yiorgos’ life at noon in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
