Zella & Anthony Paone's Obituary
Zella E. (Antelmi) Paone, 96, of Syracuse, passed away December 11, 2019. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late Rocco and Angela (Carvutti) Antelmi. She is also predeceased by seven siblings.
Anthony N. “Tony” Paone, Sr., 95, of Syracuse, passed away December 14, 2019. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Joseph and Martha (Morabito) Paone. He is also predeceased by three siblings.
Tony was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran and received his bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University. He worked as an Electrical Engineer for most of his life at Smith Corona carrying 14 United States Patents. It was at Smith Corona where he met the love of his life, Zella who worked as a secretary there before leaving to raise her family. Zella was an amazing cook and baker and was a caregiver for all her seven siblings. Both Tony and Zella spent most of their later years with their beloved grandchildren.
They are survived by four children, Joseph (Maria) Paone of E. Syracuse, Rocco (Denise) Paone of Onondaga Hill, Anthony (Jean) Paone, Jr. of Baldwinsville and Martha (Scott) Cacciola of Baldwinsville; eight grandchildren, Rocco Jr., John, and Nicole Paone, Lauren (Cameron) Bernard, Marc Paone and Juliana Paone, Elizabeth and Nicholas Cacciola; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse, NY, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Zella and Tony’s life at 1:00 pm at church. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
