E. Zoë (Zotto) Keeler's Obituary
E. Zoë (Zotto) Keeler, 67, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was born in Virginia and raised in Italy; daughter of the late Michael and Eleanor (John) Zotto. She was a passionate Labor & Delivery nurse at St Joseph’s Hospital and had just retired earlier this year.
She was predeceased by her son, Daniel Keeler. She is survived by two daughters, Meagan Keeler and Marisa Keeler (Saul Rios); two grandchildren, Giovanni and Anabella Rios; three brothers, Mark (Debbie) Zotto, Michael (Tina) Zotto and John (Nancy) Zotto; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.
Zoë was a dedicated Mother and Nana; nothing brought her more joy than her daughters and grandchildren; and nothing brought her more pain than the death of her dear son, Daniel. Only second to her love of her family was her career as a nurse. Zoë kept in contact with many of her patients and her coworkers have become extended family. Her compassion was unmatched; constantly bringing Italian treats to everyone she met and consumed with concern for others. A frequent shopper; many stores knew her by name including her favorite, Lord & Taylor.
Having grown up in Sicily; Zoë had an eternal drive to travel the world and truly enjoyed immersing herself in other cultures. She was accepting of all people, embracing differences and championing human rights.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Zoë’s life will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at St. Lucy’s Church. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Friday, December 21, 2018 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Planned Parenthood or St. Lucy’s Church.
