Alan H. Shively, 86, of Pennellville, NY, passed away peacefully at home on March 12, 2022. He was born in Waynesboro, PA, son of the late Charles and Violet Shively. Alan received his master’s degree from Syracuse University and Read Obituary
Al was a great teacher and an ideal co-worker. He had a ready smile you could count on, always reflecting his satisfaction with teaching at JCB. He was the kind of colleague who asked the other person how they were doing, never complaining about himself. He was sincere, devoted and kind to all.

My name is Chris Gorman. My husband and I live on the Oneida River Rd. I got to know your Dad as I walked my Red Poodle every day past his house. We would pass each other and chat a little each day. When he couldn’t walk far we would see him getting the paper and we’d have a conversation about how he was doing and how your mom was feeling and we’d discuss our health problems or his hunting excursions. I never met your Mom but it was clear how much he worried about her. Sometimes we would run into each other at Wegman’s and I know everyone in the store heard our conversation because he never had his hearing aids on! He was a wonderful man and I’m glad we were able to say Hi now and then. He and my dog were the best of friends with my dog pulling me across the road to say Hi. The last time we spoke he told me he had bone cancer, but as he said then “I can be pretty stubborn and I can handle this. When we returned from Florida last Tuesday I noticed there were no cars in the driveway. I said to my husband, “oh no, this isn’t good”. Then I saw the obituary. From the video I know he was loved so much by his family. I know you will all miss him as will I. Prayers for all of you and also for your mom. It was a pleasure to know him.
I worked with AL for many years at JCB. He was just a really good
guy, who appreciated telling or hearing a good joke. RIP Al

I worked with Al for many years at Phoenix side by side in the business dept. Al was always the quiet gentleman with a sense of humor. One day he wore two different shoes to work and when we pointed it out to him, we all got a good chuckle out of it. He was such a sweet man. Working with him was a privilege. I am sorry for your loss.
