Angelina M. "Angie" Mondo's Obituary
Our loving mother, Angelina M. “Angie” (Tassone) Mondo, 92, of Liverpool, passed away Saturday at Iroquois Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. A native of Reggio, Calabria, Italy, the daughter of Saverio and Anna (Mercuri) Tassone, she resided in the Liverpool area most of her life.
Angie and her husband Chris were owners and operators of Mondo’s Bakery in North Syracuse for many years. Angie enjoyed gardening, history and engaging in spicy conversations about politics with anyone who would debate her.
She was predeceased by her husband, Christian Mondo in 2004 and also by 6 brothers and 1 sister.
Angie is survived by her children, Christian D. Mondo of Hadley, NY and Michelle R. Mondo of Liverpool, NY; her brother, Guerino “Bill” (Peg) Tassone of Canastota, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Angie’s family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Iroquois Nursing Home for their loving care and compassion given to their mother during her stay with them.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Angie’s life at 10:00 am in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
