Anna (Sabatino) Vivenzio's Obituary
Anna (Sabatino) Vivenzio, 101, of Boynton Beach, FL (formerly of Syracuse), passed away peacefully at her son’s home in Baldwinsville, NY on Tuesday, June 24, 2014. She was born in Brooklyn, NY and was a graduate of Syracuse University with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master’s degree in English Literature. Anna possessed a deep and abiding faith, extraordinary love and devotion to family and friends and a quiet grace. Anna was a giver who lived her life with a loving spirit, open heart, kind words and always a smile. She had a way of making everyone she met feel accepted, valued and appreciated.
Anna was devoted to her church, St. Thomas More, in Boynton Beach, FL, her children and her large extended family. She taught for 35 years in the Syracuse School District and retired in 1968. She then taught for 1 year at SUNY Oswego and was also Director of Social Services and Activities at Pontiac Nursing Home in Oswego, NY. Anna lived in Boynton Beach, FL and was very active in her retirement community, Limetree Court. She was an avid reader who shared her love of books and poetry.
She was predeceased by her parents, Gerard and Rosaria (Cavallaro) Sabatino, her husband, Rocco Vivenzio, Sr., her son, Dr. Rocco Vivenzio, Jr., her siblings, Jennie Criazzo, Ralph and Michele Sabatino, and Gloria D’Auria.
Surviving are her daughter, Rosanne (Thomas) Agati; her son, John (Sharon Sands) Vivenzio; her beloved grandchildren, John (Gina) Vivenzio, Anne Marie (John) Latocha, Sara (Matthew) Benson, Janine (Brian) Turner, Laura, Maria, and Kathryn Vivenzio; her 8 great-grandchildren, Jullian, Sophia, Gianni, Luca, Ethan, Mila, Mason and Flora; her daughters-in-law, Madaline Vivenzio and Linda Vivenzio; her sister, Ida McMurray; her beloved nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
A special thanks to Hospice of CNY and the caregivers who helped to make her comfortable.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Noon to celebrate Anna’s life at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Monday, June 30, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
