Anthony J. Ross' Obituary
Anthony J. Ross, 69, of Camillus, NY, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014 after a long, courageous and hard fought battle with cancer. He was born in Syracuse and was a graduate of Lemoyne College and a Vietnam veteran with the U.S. Army. Anthony was the owner of AJR Sales, which specialized in outstanding pre-owned vehicles since 1972. He was well known for his knowledge of anything that had wheels and an engine. Anthony enjoyed custom cars, all things Corvette, hot rods, NASCAR and in his later years, mud bogging with the late Rodd Raynor. A.J. spent many hours patiently restoring his 63 corvette over the years in anticipation of his daughter and grandsons enjoying driving it like they stole it. Anthony was a good friend to all who knew him and never hesitated to help. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed by those who will cherish his love for them.
He was predeceased by his son, Brian Keough, his parents, Vincent and Jennie (Procopio) Ross and his brother, Richard Ross.
Left to cherish his memory in their hearts are his loving wife of 38 years, Francine (Krause) Ross; his daughter, Sarah (Joseph) Cappella; grandsons, Joseph and Anthony who always put a twinkle in his eye and smile in his heart; brother, Vincent Ross of Lowville, NY; sisters, Linda (Chris) Stanley of CA and Cheryl (Mark) Tuskey of NC; his very special aunt and guardian angel, Toni (Peter) Zangari, along with several in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
On behalf of Anthony, Francine and Sarah would like to thank Dr. Bingham and Dr. Albert’s teams at HOA for all their care and concern in helping Anthony to stay in the fight.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Anthony’s life at 10:00 am in Holy Family Church, Fairmount. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Anthony’s name to Make-A-Wish Foundation of CNY, 5005 Campuswood Drive, East Syracuse, NY 13057.
