Antonio D. "Tony" Callipari's Obituary
Antonio D. “Tony” Callipari, 89, of Syracuse, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Antonio was born to the late Bruno and Olivia Callipari and later emigrated from Locri, Italy in 1957. He met his wife, Barbara in 1959 and worked at General Motors for 39 years up until their closing in 1992. In his spare time, Tony enjoyed working outdoors, relaxing on his front porch, and spending time at Vernon Downs and the OTB. He loved conversing with others, making friends wherever he went.
Besides his parents, Tony is predeceased by his daughter, Rose Marie Travers.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara (Graves) Callipari; four children, Bruno (Alissa DiRubbo) Callipari, Olivia (Daniel) Ryan, Antonio (Kathy) Callipari, and Natalina (Rich) Crouse; five grandchildren; many brothers and a sister, all residing in Italy; a close family friend, Joey Visconte; along with several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Tony’s life at 1:00 pm at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
