Arshalous (Arsho) Vartanian's Obituary
Arshalous (Arsho) Vartanian, 80, of Syracuse, NY, passed from this life on December 28, 2018. Arsho was born and raised in Latakia, Syria. Arsho was deeply loved by her family, extended family, friends, and colleagues.
A nursing graduate of the American University of Beirut, Lebanon Arsho immigrated to the United States in 1967 and settled in Syracuse, NY. For the next 35 years, she served as a Pediatric Nurse at SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital, retiring in 2002. She spent her life giving to not just her family, but to the hundreds of children suffering from cancer, Cystic Fibrosis and other childhood diseases. Her house was always open to students unable to travel home for holidays and vacations to share a good meal and conversation.
She is predeceased by her parents, Hovsep (Joseph) and Sion Vartanian, her brother, Varoujan Vartanian, and her sister, Anais Marcarian. She is survived by her sister, Marlene Bagdasarian, and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews. Her infectious laugh and zest for life and family will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Service in celebration of Arsho’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at St. Paul’s Armenian Apostolic Church, 310 N. Geddes St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
