Assunta (Collacchi) Marino, 73, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Segni, Italy and came to the United States at age 14. Assunta retired from Lea Read Obituary
Zia Sue, I am going to miss your playful tease, your goal to feed us to our hearts content and your smile. I regret that our visits were far and few between because I thought there was always tomorrow. Know that your boys will be taken care of because they have women in their lives and family that love them almost as much as you did.
I love you and you will be missed.

A beautiful light has gone out of the neighborhood. I was blessed to be your neighbor for almost 40 years. Thank you for giving me your boys to love and hate like brothers when we were young. As we grew, you watched my kids out the windows the same way you watched us. They were always happy when you came over to say hello, and your bright smile could always make my day. Sal & Rob, she was so proud of you both, loved her daughters in law and adored Nick and Emma. Please know that my family is always here for you.
My "little mother in law", you were such a ray of sunshine. During these past few months things were tough, but when I woke you up, calling you "sleeping beauty," you always responded with a good morning and your little stretch, it always made me giggle. I have told you numerous times how proud I am to call your son my husband. You did a wonderful job raising 2 considerate men. I want to thank you for the time I had with you and your husband, albeit short, you were always so welcoming. I can never express how appreciative I am that you took the time to show me the Italian traditions. I promise to carry it on. We love you and will miss you dearly. Please give a kiss to your husband!

I know that the last 10 years have been tough on all of us but you were the glue that held it all together. A wife, Mother, Nonna and a caretaker for dad and you always made time for all of us to smile. I will always remember the stories you told to us how you came to this country and started a life here. You and Dad are my heroes and I am blessed to have had the time with you. You always said to me that being a parent was a great feeling but being a grandparent was the greatest feeling in the world. I am very blessed that you were in Emma and Nicks life and also showed them the value of tradition. I will miss your smile and also the teasing but I truly know you are in a better place. Thank you for giving me a big brother that I know I can put my head on his shoulder and feel comforted. I Will see you in English.

Dear mother, I am so so sorry that you had to go so soon. The love you gave us all will never be forgotten. The good times and the bad will always be cherished. The lessons and talks we had were heard and learned. As we have talked many times of the appreciation of how you and dad made everything possible for us kids, especially the times you had to go without to please us. These last few months as you know have bern very hard on you and you know it was just as tough for us to see. I'm glad you are not suffering anymore, but I'm selfish to see you go. Many times in these past few months I have poured out tears, and as the great mother you are, you comforted me and said everything will be ok. I will miss your smile, your jokes, and your cooking. I won't say goodbye, but I will say so long for now.
