The last time I saw Benny was a casual encounter decades ago, in a grocery store. He was excited because of a boxing match he ordered on cable. I remarked "it ought to be a hell of a fight."
"Come on over!" he said. I barely new Benny. New on the job, we had worked together a couple of times. To this day I've always remembered the sincere generosity in that conversation. It made an impression on me that is permeanant. That kind of man is an example for all of us
It is so sad to see that Benny has passed away. We are thinking of Ben and all of his brothers and sisters. God bless them all. Remembering all the times as kids we were at Uncle Don and Aunt Dorthey's house playing with the cousins. Sending our love.
I worked with Benny from time to time on the SFD and the smiling picture in his obituary fits perfectly because he seemed to always be in a good mood and a lot of fun to be around. Great sense of humor and lots of good memories. RIP Benny!

As the nurse manager of the Clark Burn Center from 1999 through 2006, I had the pleasure to meet Benny and do some important fund raising for the burn unit and also the American Heart Association (AHA). Together we were one of the top fundraisers for the AHA in honor of your daughter who had open heart surgery. I had the pleasure to get to know Benny and listen to many of his stories about working as a firefighter for the city of Syracuse. Many tearful conversations were had about some of his heroic deeds and some of the trauma he experienced. He was so proud to be a firefighter. Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences to all of his family. Prayers for your comfort and peace during this difficult time.
