I had the privilege of knowing Bernie from my early days at Intertek over 20 years ago. As a new employee, I was a little intimidated by him at first, but it didn’t take long to discover the man behind that first impression. Bernie had a wonderful sense of humor, a kind heart, and a way of making people feel welcome.
One conversation I’ll always remember was learning that his family owned land in the town of McGraw, where I now live. It made our small corner of New York feel even smaller and gave us something special to talk about his childhood.
Reading about his life, it’s clear that the same qualities I saw at work were reflected in the way he lived, his love for Catherine, his sons, grandchildren, his service to our country, and his dedication to his community.
My heartfelt condolences to Catherine and the entire McGraw family. Thank you for sharing Bernie with all of us. May God grant you comfort in the days ahead, and may Bernie rest in eternal peace. He will be remembered with great respect and fondness.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Betsy Clendenning
