Bernard P. "Bernie" McGraw's Obituary
Bernard P. “Bernie” McGraw, 78, of Cicero, passed away peacefully at home on July 16, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born in Cortland, NY, son of the late James and Yvonne (Eckert) McGraw, Bernard served in the United State Air Force before becoming an Account Manager for Intertek in Cortland. Bernard was a proud member, coach, and fundraiser of many organizations including; Cicero Little League, Northern Onondaga Sports Complex at Gillette Road Middle School, and the Cicero Pop Warner Football Program.
He enjoyed racing RC cars with his sons and grandsons, watching his grandchildren participate in school and travel sports, enjoyed golf, and loved traveling across the pond to tour and river cruise throughout Europe.
Along with his parents, Bernie is predeceased by his brother, Peter.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Catherine (Yacavone) McGraw; two sons, Matthew P. (Ronjil) and Gregory J. (Jessica) McGraw; two grandchildren, Conner and Kierstyn; two step-grandchildren, Leyton Sullivan and Carmen Burns; his brother, Michael (Barbara) McGraw; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral Mass in celebration of Bernie’s life will take place on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. in St. Rose of Lima Church, 409 S. Main St., North Syracuse, NY. Private burial with Military Honors will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Cortland. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 Vickery Road (Corner of Buckley Road) Syracuse, NY 13212.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bernie’s memory may be made to St. Rose of Lima Food Pantry or the Food Bank of CNY.
