Carmen J. Sarno's Obituary
Carmen J. Sarno, “Pops,” passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 9, 2019. He was born in Solvay, NY, son of the late Louis and Giraloma (Corrazzio) Sarno. Carmen was a proud U.S. Navy vet. He dedicated 44 years to Carrier, retiring in 1999. He continued to work after retirement for JR Automotive which afforded him the opportunity to be around cars, one of his many passions. Carmen was a Cadillac enthusiast and enjoyed washing, waxing, and showing off his cars to friends and family members. He was a devoted parishioner at St. Lucy’s Church where he had active roles and made many friends. Carmen was very dedicated to and proud of his family. To him, family was everything, especially his wife, Helen of nearly 67 years.
He is predeceased by his daughter, Jeriann Overton.
Carmen is survived by his loving wife, Helen (Bertolo) Sarno; his son, Michael Sarno; four grandchildren, Michael (Trisha) Sarno, Marc (Briana) Sarno, Tara Overton and Lucas (Erica) Overton; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Dolores Govendo, along with nieces, nephews and many beloved cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 15, 2019 from 4:00 - 6:30 pm, immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Carmen’s life at 6:30 pm at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. Friends may join the family at Twin Trees (1029 Milton Ave., Syracuse, NY) following the service.
