Carmine Todisco was like a second father to me. I first met him with Paul on my first day of college at USC, moving into my dorm room. Carmine and my dad immediately connected as did Paul and I. Justin as Paul is my soul brother, Carmine is my soul father. Each time I saw him, he would tell me that I was like a second son to him. His warmth and love were so genuine that the times I spent with him are seared into my memory.
When I first returned to Thailand he had sent me $100 to search out an interesting mask to send back to him for his collection. I found a gargantuan wooden mask of a traditional Thai giant and posted it in the mail. He was so impressed by it that he hung it over his fireplace at his home. I, in turn was I inspired to start collecting masks from the countries I visited.
His passion for traditional masks and ancient oil lamps was as contagious as his smile and his appreciation of a simple cherry pie and his love of nature.
I will miss him deeply.
With love and gratitude from your second son,
Ellis Jones
