Carolyn (Spina) Simard's Obituary
Carolyn (Spina) Simard, 83, of Liverpool, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Syracuse and was a graduate of North Syracuse High School and Central City Business Institute. Carolyn was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church in Mattydale and a member of its Altar Rosary Society. She was a member and past president of the North Syracuse Lioness Club and member of the Auxiliary League of St. Jude and Mattydale-Hinsdale Seniors. She and her husband Lionel were volunteer drivers for the North Area Meals on Wheels. She also served as a blood program aid for the American Red Cross for 15 years. Carolyn was employed by Wells & Coverly, the Star News and Gertrude Hawk Chocolates.
She is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Lionel R. Simard.
Carolyn is survived by five children; Robert of North Syracuse, Thomas (Dena) of Louisiana, Kathryn (Thomas) of South Carolina, Joseph of North Syracuse and John (Luella) of North Syracuse; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; her brother, John (Greta) Spina of North Syracuse and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Carolyn’s life at 12:30 pm in St. Margaret’s Church, Mattydale. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 9:30 am – 11:30 am on Thursday at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Syracuse Lions Club, 110 Oakley Dr., N. Syracuse, NY 13212 or the North Area Meals on Wheels.
