Charles H. Riel Jr.'s Obituary
Charles H. "Chuck" Riel Jr., 80, of Clay, NY passed away on Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital after spending time with his entire family. Born in Syracuse, he served with the US Marine Corps from 1947 to 1950. Chuck was a sales manager with Precision Autos Volkswagen Dealership for most of his life before working in the security office at Bristol Myers for 11 years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family and Chuck was an avid reader and animal lover. Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Rose (De Nonno) Riel; 2 sons, Charles H. Riel, III of Clay, NY and John M. (Kara) Della Vecchia of Natick, Mass., 4 daughters, Linda (Jerry) Lindsey of Brewerton, Mary Jo Snowberger of Clay, Tina Riel of Liverpool and Heather (John Paul) Giamartino of Manlius; 10 grandchildren, Jeree and Adam Lindsey, Ankha Howard, Valentina Riel, Gene Snowberger, Gianpaolo, Michael Angelo and Maria Emmanuella Giamartino, Niccolo Lucien and Isabella Rose Della Vecchia; 4 great-grandchildren and his brother, William (Mary Jo) Riel of Whitford Lake, Michigan. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oncology Floor at St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation, 973 James St., Suite 250, Syracuse, NY 13203 or to the Humane Society, 1108 Spring St., Syracuse, NY 13208.
