My crazy beautiful Irish Mother-in-law. She loved my kids with no reservations. She taught my daughter how to make an omelet. She gave them candy whenever they wanted it. She had ice cream treats; she played with them; she hugged them. She babysat when they were little. We miss her. I'll miss her.

I was sadden to read this obituary in the paper. Claire was a wonderful, supportive wife to her husband Jim and a terrific mother to her five children. I know this because I worked for/with her husband for more than ten years and we often interacted with his family during that time frame. She will be missed by us all because she was a great person to know. She had one of the best Irish/American accents I have ever heard.

My sincere condolences to Elizabeth and the Strouth family on the lost of your mom. Mrs. Strouth was funny, feisty, and overall a genuinely nice lady. I feel fortunate to have met her.
I wish I had remember more of my younger years before her dementia really hit. But I do remember spending days at her house if I was out of school and my mom had to work. She always had a stash of chocolate covered ice cream bars in her freezer ready for me to devour over the day (oops sorry mom!). And I always thought it was hilarious when she called cats, "pussy cats" or the way she would say "thunderstorms." I loved her accent and often bragged that I had a Grandma from Ireland. Even when her dementia started to set in, she would still remember I was one of her "grand kiddies" and ask me every 5 minutes if I had a boyfriend yet. She always was a family woman at heart and I hope I can follow her example as a dedicated wife while I start my journey in my frist year of marriage. I will miss visiting her. I will miss her.
