David C. Capucilli's Obituary
David Christopher Capucilli passed away suddenly November 30, 2013. He was 37. Born November 18, 1976 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, he was the beloved son of Jo Anne and Dennis Capucilli of Baldwinsville.
On July 4, 2013, in Tuscany, Italy, Dave married Kristin Kolich, the love of his life, on top of the mountain at Monteverdi.
They lived in Manhattan, moved to Brooklyn and were gloriously happy together.
He was the founder of Capucilli Firm, PLLC - Start Up and Business Law in New York City.
Dave is survived by his wife, Kristin; parents, Jo Anne and Dennis; brother, Matthew; grandmother, Theresa Capucilli; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.
He was predeceased by grandparents, Danny Capucilli, and Marian and Ralph Esposito.
Dave graduated with honors from Baldwinsville’s C.W. Baker High School in 1995. A scholar athlete, he played baseball and basketball, played on several All-Star Teams and in the Empire State Games Team, winning a bronze medal. He attended University of Rochester where he played four years at second base, graduating in 1999 with his degree in political science with a journalism minor. He was awarded his Law Degree from St. John’s University in 2004, was Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Conrad B. Duberstein, in Brooklyn, and then had Associate positions at New York firms, Lovells and Morrison & Foerster, LLP before starting his own in 2011.
Dave enjoyed all sports and inherited his grandfather Esposito’s lifelong love of the NY Yankees. A fan of Syracuse University sports and the NY Giants, he supported a happy rivalry with Kristin and her Chicago Bears. He worked out, ran, swam, learned to surf, ski, snowboard and golf. He recently trained hard and completed two Triathlon events…”Go, Gooch.”
He read non-fiction, was an eloquent writer, studied, prepared and took time without wasting it in everything he did.
And he and Kristin were great cooks.
Dave loved music. It was a large part of his life and an important and enjoyable connection with Matt. It was with him always. He played guitar and had a beautiful singing voice. Even as a child he was never off key.
Even though Dave’s life was far too short, he leaves a lasting legacy of caring and selflessness. A man of taste, sensitivity, intelligence, courage and humility, he was looked up to as an example for his integrity and concern for others. His love and concern were not only focused on his friends and family, he had a desire to make life better for strangers as well. He acted on this goal through Charity:Water that reached far beyond his own neighborhood out into the global community. His quest to help make things better in this world fueled his love of travel where he often satisfied his curiosity to experience new and different places and cultures.
Dave did not just live his life… he embraced it with contagious enthusiasm as evidenced by his large circle of true friends. When you were with Dave he made you feel like you were the most important person in the world. He had a solid sense of self no doubt engendered by his close-knit family and strong upbringing.
Dave was strong yet gentle, smart yet simple, outspoken yet quiet. He brought a light and energy to everyone around him, so it’s not surprising these lines from “Loving Cup”, one of his favorite songs by the Rolling Stones capture his spirit for life -“I’m the man who walks the hillside in the sweet summer sun, I’m the man that brings you roses when you ain’t got none.”
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013, 8:45 AM at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Baldwinsville. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Road (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Friday from 3 to 7 PM.
