David Malagisi's Obituary
David Malagisi, 68, passed away Wednesday at home surrounded by loved ones. Born June 27, 1945 in Syracuse, David lived his whole life on the North Side. He was the son of Julio and Jennie (Cupoli) Malagisi. After graduating from North High School, David worked in the construction trades. He was a member of the Cement Finishers Union. His later years were spent as a Housing Rehabilitation Inspector for Onondaga County. In that capacity he spent seventeen years helping a great many people secure major home improvements. He was very proud that he was able to help so many people in that position. David enjoyed a number of hobbies and activities. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. A gun enthusiast, he competed in muzzle loading matches, collected, and restored guns. He was a gardener, wine maker, and loved cooking and baking. David was the paradigm of the gentle bear persona. Gruff on the outside, gentle and caring on the inside. His true character was that of a compassionate, loyal, and loving person. He loved family holiday gatherings, and tried to carry on that tradition. Most of all he loved his family, his children, grandchildren, and friends. His passing is a sad time for those who knew and loved him. What remains are the memories of good times and shared events that survive his passing.
David was predeceased by his parents, his beloved Uncle Pat Cupoli, his wife Vi, brother , Douglas J. Malagisi, several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his son, Scott (Stacy) Malagisi; daughter, Rachael (Ricky) Atkinson; grandchildren, Devon, Logan, Emily, and Alexander; several cousins, nieces and nephews and his companion, Susan Stoneburg.
