I knew Mr. Tropea from when I worked at Syracuse Savings Bank (1969-1994). He and Mr. Whalen use to go around to the branches to visit the managers and staff and see how things were going. He always had a smile and was very fair. The last time I saw him was at an SSB reunion around 1990 at LeMoyne Manor. I told him he use to put a bit of fear in me but I would take him back any day rather than the new bank taking over. He got a good laugh from that. Those old days at SSB were great! Ironically, my very first day of work at the bank was July 14, 1969.....

My heart goes out to you and your family at this time of great loss. I'm so sorry I missed Dom's last days. I've spent some time with Dom, but as you and your family know all to well "some time" is never enough time when it's with Dom. I will miss him and remember him with all the love and fondness of a great friend and wonderful soul that he was. I will cherish the smile he always had for me and those very expressive eyes that always seemed to know when I was in need of of that smile. Stay well and know that you're in my thoughts and prayers.
