Donna J. DiRaddo's Obituary
Donna J. DiRaddo, 61, of Central Square, passed away peacefully at home with her family and friends by her side. Born in Syracuse to the late Gloria J. (Wilzinski) and Albert J. DiRaddo, she was a graduate of West Genesee High School, Onondaga Community College, and later became a self-taught culinary chef. Donna was the proud owner and chef of several restaurants including Barado’s on the Water, Barado’s Café, and Barado’s on the Hill. She had a love of the culinary arts that warmed and touched the hearts and stomachs of so many. She enjoyed nurturing her garden and loved to watch it grow where she was able to utilize “Garden to the Table,” incorporating the freshest to heighten her dishes. She was an avid SU Basketball and NY Yankees fan, and she loved to travel. Donna loved being with her pets, her Golden Retriever Baily, and her cat, Nickels Pickles. Most of all, Donna loved spending time with her family and loving friends, with whom she had so many beautiful connections.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Donald DiRaddo.
Donna is survived by her brothers, David (Sue) DiRaddo, Daniel DiRaddo, sister, Patti (Dan) Carbone, nephew and caregiver, Jarred Carbone. Aunts, Phyllis DiRaddo, Marcia Delaney; uncle, Bob Wilzinski. She is also survived by her business partner, best friend, and caregiver, Cheryl (Jeffrey) Barsom; grandchild, Hayden Barsom-Slocom; along with several cousins.
Donna will be remembered by family and friends for her love of life, beautiful positive energy, wise and loving presence in our lives. The family would also like to express with their deepest gratitude to Cheryl Barsom who stood by her side during her long and courageous battle with cancer.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, from 12:45 pm – 3:45 pm at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, a funeral service in celebration of Donna’s life will follow at 4:00 pm in the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY 13212.
