Mrs. Betty Dunn was a special, smiling "Mother" to most of us kids growing up on the 500 block of Robineau. Her spunk, humor and ease gave the neighborhood such a home---y and "you are welcome here" way. Gardener par excellence, she taught us foxglove, delphiniums and all the many colorful, various flowers she grew. Showcase gardening front and back of "518". She truly cared about us, continuing as we grew, education, and then moved away from Robineau. She and Mr. Dunn were a fun team -- loving and faced the joys and sorrows of life well. Can-do attitude and...with smiles!
A few summer's ago she & Janet were going from Camillus to a grandchild's ball game on the East side of Syracuse; don't think they got there for much of the game....Janet said her Mom asked to drive "down Robineau". They passed "526" and saw a car in the driveway. They checked the license plate, "Pennsylvania, maybe Betsy's here", they told me. Knock knock at the back door, the only door our "real" neighbors would use!! and what a treat to see and hug them; we sat and caught up in our backyard for a long while. Then walking towards the end of the driveway, other neighbors joined in and we were laughing so! We all had a blast!
Classic Betty: joy and care-for-others on THE Robineau Road SHE made so very special for all of us!
Thanking God for you in our lives; we grieve so but you have been & will continue to be such an inspiration and legacy......
Love to your Family,
Betsy Robinson
