Ellen (Seymour) Medicis' Obituary
Ellen (Seymour) Medicis, 89, of Liverpool, passed away on January 24, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family. She fought a valiant battle and beat the odds many times during the past year before our Lord took her.
Ellen was born on December 1, 1935, in Boston, MA to Mary Alice and Elwin Moore. Ellen was a loving wife to the love of her life, Vincent (Jimmy) Medicis for over 65 years. She was a mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her immediate family, 41 persons strong. She was a long time member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Liverpool (now Epiphany Parish), where she was a member of the Most Holy Rosary Society. She never missed any of her children’s or grandchildren’s sporting events or other activities. She enjoyed crocheting, crafting, traveling and attending Syracuse University basketball and football games. She was famous for her crocheting, winning many prizes at the NY State Fair. She enjoyed spending winters at her second home in Clearwater, FL.
Ellen grew up helping her parents with their small family grocery store. After her graduation from St Anthony’s High School, she worked for a few years as a phone operator for ATT. After she raised her four kids she went back to work as a sales representative with Chappell’s.
Ellen was predeceased by her parents, Mary Alice Seymour and Elwin Moore and her adopted father, Alvah Seymour; her brothers, Elwin Moore, Jr. and Alvah Seymour, Jr., and many brothers and sisters-in-law.
Ellen is survived by her husband, Vincent Medicis; children, Thomas (Nancy) Medicis, Laurie (Brian) Blaisdell, Linda (Jerry) Richards, and Joseph (Christine) Medicis, 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces; a brother-in-law, Joseph Medicis and sisters-in-law, Nadia Medicis and Mary Lou Seymour.
The family would like to thank Hospice of CNY and the Neurology Departments at Upstate and Crouse Hospitals for their excellent care.
Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Road, (Corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 A.M. on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Epiphany Parish (formerly St. Joseph the Worker Church) in Liverpool. Ellen will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, DeWitt.
