Esther Congel, 99, of Syracuse, passed away on Sunday at Birchwood Health Care Center. She was born in Syracuse and was a communicant of Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Esther was employed with Gaylord Brothers for 25 years, Read Obituary
When I first started visiting Esther at Elderwood Care at Birchwood, she talked alot about her family, whom she loved very much. Toward the end, although she didn't say much, she was very much at peace. She was a very nice lady and I will miss her. Becky Raynore, Volunteer
I go back a ways in Esthers life. When she retired from Gaylord Bros I was assigned her position. A wonderful lady to have to follow. She was very dedicated to her Customer Service Role and I thought I would never be able to fill the position. I too retired after 33 years thanks to a great mentor Esther. Over the years we exchanged Christmas Cards and met at different functions. A very gracious lady with a smile on her face and always a thoughtful concern for others. She will be missed. I am an aid at the nursing home where Esther lived. She will be missed. Some of the things I will remember about Esther is her beautiful smile, the way she use to wave and say "hi" to everyone, sometimes the nurses could get her to dance in her chair, but most of all I loved the way she always use to say "you are good" when you were taking care of her. God bless you all and I am sorry for your loss.
