Evangeline "Angie" Gloria Petrarca's Obituary
Evangeline “Angie” Gloria (Flaminio) Petrarca, 92, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2019. She was born in Blairsville, PA on October 4, 1927, daughter of the late John and Ann (Bada) Flaminio. After a long career as the Pre-Audit Supervisor for Syracuse University, Angie retired and found a second home at Drumlins Country Club where she proudly managed thousands of banquets and events. During her time at Syracuse University, she was awarded the Chancellor’s Citation for Distinguished Service and she was an active member of the SU Senate, championing initiatives for the betterment of students and employees.
Angie was a remarkable contributor to the Syracuse community. She served as a member of the Board of Directors for Orange Plus, aiding in bringing greater attention to women’s athletics. She was Board Chairperson of Sunfirst Federal Credit Union and she even volunteered as Makeup and Costume Supervisor for The Pompeiian Players for 35 years. Angie was forever proud of her family and was an avid Syracuse University sports fan.
Besides her parents, Angie was predeceased by her beloved brother, Joseph Flaminio.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Mary) Petrarca; her daughter, Stephanie (Michael) Benati; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Jean, Anthony, Melissa, Robert, Kathryn, Margaret, Danielle, and Christina; and nine great-grandchildren, Samuel, Ella, Aidan, Ryan, Sophia, Charlotte, Hadley, Lily, and Ethan.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Angie’s life will take place on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 10:00 am in St. John The Baptist Church, Syracuse. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours will be held for family and friends from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Monday, October 28, 2019 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Angie’s name may be made to The Recreation Department at the Commons on St. Anthony, 3 Anthony St. Auburn, NY 13021.
