Frances (Ascioti) Quattrone's Obituary
Frances (Ascioti) Quattrone, age 99, passed away in Sarasota, Florida. A life long resident of Solvay, she attended Syracuse University graduating in 1941, and began and ended her educational career in the Solvay School System. She taught junior high math for the majority of those years before being named as principal of Solvay Elementary School in 1972. She was particularly proud that the school playground was named after her and portrays a plaque in her honor. In addition to her professional career as a teacher and administrator in Solvay, Frances was also a past president of the Piercefield Women's Club and a member of the Garden Club. As a member of the Geddes Business and Professional Women, she was honored to be named Woman of the Year by this organization. Once retired, she served as bookkeeper for the family business, Ascioti's Market, for over 20 years.
Frances and her husband, Charlie, enjoyed years of traveling to various stateside locations, as well as vacationing in Hawaii, Bermuda, the Caribbean and Europe. They enjoyed entertaining in their Scarboro Drive home with family and friends and hosting holiday events. Together they lived a life of love and laughter, while surrounded by siblings, family members and friends who completed their circle of a wonderful life. She enjoyed her time living in Sarasota with her daughter and son-in-law for the past three years. She sat on their lanai, traveled to other parts of Florida, and soaked up the sun and warmth.
Frances was an outstanding baker and there were a host of people who enjoyed her culinary talents, from family to fellow educators, those in Solvay and beyond. She took pride in her ability to make Italian cookies that rivaled professionals, offering them to family, teachers, and customers in the family store.
A kind, gentle soul, she captured the heart of everyone she met. Frances always looked for the best in people, and in return, all who met her couldn't help but love, respect, and hold her in high esteem. In addition to being a wonderful wife and mother, her compassion for others was one of her greatest strengths. Frances was a devout Catholic and said daily prayers and rosaries for those she held close to her heart. She was truly loved and will be missed by all.
Frances was predeceased by her husband, Charles; brothers Joseph, Dominick (Doc), Thomas, and Louis (Willie) Ascioti; sisters, Lucretia (Jessie) Quattrone, Agnes (Ida) Vilasi, Lena Guardino and Philomena (Fannie) Ascioti.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Marilyn (Donald) Stone; sister, Rose Spagnoletti; sister-in-law, Rose Cardinali; step-grandchildren Greg (Kristen) Stone, and David (Jennifer) Stone; and great grandchildren, Kaelyn and Michael Stone, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
