Genevieve B. Therre's Obituary
Genevieve B. Therre 100, of North Syracuse, passed away on June 12, 2024. Born in Syracuse to Dorothy and Howard Bowker, she grew up in Mattydale.
In 1945 she met her future husband, a widow with two beautiful daughters. She retired from the North Syracuse Central School District as the head bookkeeper, before the age of computers. A woman of many interests and talents, she was an avid reader and was accomplished in needlework. She enjoyed travel, genealogy, square dancing and visits with family and friends.
Genevieve was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Robert A. Therre; a daughter, Patricia T. Harris; brothers, Paul and George Bowker and a sister, Geraldine Heilman.
She is survived by daughters, Mary Ann Parsons and Margaret (Daniel R.) Kirkby; son-in-law, Duke Harris; grandchildren, Michelin Keleher, Dr. Orville (Stephanie) Harris, Gretchen (Albert) Zenner and Daniel R.K. (Heather Scheirer) Kirkby; great-grandchildren, Madeline and Daniel D. Keleher, August Zenner and many nieces and nephews.
Genevieve's family would like to thank the staff at Elderwood at Liverpool for the care and compassion she received her last few months.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm, immediately followed by a prayer service at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. Private burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 400 Vine St. Liverpool, NY 13088 or South Bay Fire Department, 8817 Cicero Center Rd. Cicero, NY.
