Giulia (Borreggine) DeTommaso, 86, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2023. She was born in Casamassima, Bari, Italy, daughter of the late Antonio and Angela (Verna) Borreggine. Giulia met and married her beloved Read Obituary
After all that Giulia has done for family and friends, it is now time to celebrate her life, and what a wonderful life that it was. Soi many talents, a wonderful husband, beautiful and talented children and grandchildren. In a bit of the luck of the Irish, it has been our good fortune to have had her as the best neighbor ever for the last 42+ years. God is getting a good one, and He has got to be smiling because he has never eaten better. Rest in peace, Giulia.

I’m not one for these types of posts but I wanted to put this out there. When I grew up I ate dinner EVERY SUNDAY at Mrs DeTommaso’s house. She was like a mom to me and made the best Spaghetti Sauce and meals I’ve ever had in my life. EVERY SUNDAY she had a place set for me at the table. She was a seamstress her entire life and every year (tho she was retired) she’d do any and all alterations for my clothes for school or prom or otherwise. Her English wasn’t very good but I understood her just fine with lots of help from her son Joe Detommaso over the years she treated me like a son and when we went to college (Joe and I were college roommates) she would make the 3 hour trip to our college soccer games and bring a full pot of sauce (and jars to last a month). She knew it was my favorite and she took the time to pick fresh tomatoes and pass them thru cheese cloth and preserve them. In all the time I’ve known her I’ve never seen her angry. She was just a loving kind hearted person that I’ll never forget. After college and medical school I went back to visit with her to write down her recipe so that when this day came I could put together a sauce that could get close to what she made for me thousands of times. Although I haven’t been able to reproduce it (because nothing can come close to hers) I think about her EVERY time that I make it. Angela DeTommaso Licari and Dolores DeTommaso Darwish I’m so sorry for your loss. She was one of the most beautiful people I’ve ever known and I’ll never forget her. I cried like a baby when Joe told me yesterday. I’ll miss her and she will never be forgotten. She made a big impact on me and I hope you all know this. I’ll never EVER forget sitting down for dinner with her and your family for all those Sundays years ago. My heart breaks and I hope you all know that if you need me im here. Mr Detommaso I’m very sorry for your loss. I miss all of you. You are all like family to me. I’m so sorry and hurt.
I will always remember Giulia as the sweetest lady, the bestest cookie maker and seamstress of all time. Not only did Dolores bring her cookies to the office every Christmas but she made many trays for me to bring north to my family and they still talk about them too!!
Dolores and Angela and all your families my sympathy is with you all those wonderful memories of her will always be in your hearts 💖💖
