I have shared this memory with some family members, but I’d like to share it again. It shows how Ian’s heart was big, from a pretty young age: even at that tough pre-teen (or early teen) stage: it was a warm September afternoon at our daughter’s (Lauren’s) first birthday party. As I talked and mingled with our 30 guests, I found myself needing a cold drink. I must have half thought it/mumbled it in an audible voice. The next thing I know, I hear a young voice behind me: “Aunt Elaine…”. I turned around and there stood 12 or 13 year old Ian, handing me a large glass, filled with an icy cold beverage. No one told him to do that. He must have observed what was needed and sprang to help. I will never forget that first hand experience - an early glimpse of what Ian was, inside, and what he was to become. We love you, Ian. Though we are going to miss you, terribly, you are forever in our hearts. ❤️. Rest well and in peace, dear nephew.
