Ida (Dorschel) Spadaro's Obituary
Ida (Dorschel) Spadaro, 92, of Liverpool, passed away at Crouse Hospital on Saturday, November 29, 2014. She was born in Manlius Center, NY, the daughter of the late Edward and Florence (Smith) Dorschel. Ida was employed by New York Telephone in the Accounting Department for 27 years before her retirement. She was a communicant and Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church and also a member of its’ St. Therese Society. Ida loved Square Dancing and Ball Room Dancing, playing cards, and crocheting lap robes for nursing home patients. When she retired in 1984, Ida started many types of entertainment at West Side Manor, especially their Christmas Party which she founded with her dear friends Kathy & Mike King.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Fred Beane in 1955; her sisters, Marian Cafarelli in 1981 and Donna Duval in 2010, and her brother, Edward Dorschel in 2005.
Ida is survived by her loving husband of 16 years, Samuel Spadaro; her daughter, Gloria (Michael) Morris of Churchville, NY; granddaughter, Sandy Lyn (Derick) Sandford of Chicago, IL, and great-grandson, Dylan Sandford; three step-children and several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Ida’s life at 10:00 am in Pope John Paul XXIII Church on Soule Road in Liverpool. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Road (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
The Holy Name and St. Therese Societies will recite their ritual at 3:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church or the American Cancer Society.
