Growing up as a youngster until adulthood, Isabella (Izzy) to my family, lived next door to our family on North Alvord Street. Our houses were so close, that you practically could pass the GREY POUPON! Our families both lived in the upstairs flats. When I was in 7th grade, I woke up to sirens and smoke. I looked out my bedroom window and the Guidetti’s flat was on fire!
Thank God everyone was OK! The house was remodeled and Izzy moved to the rear 1st floor flat!
The Guidetti family were close friends to my parents, Cosie and Jo Muolo, as well as to my sister JoAnn and myself. Johnnie and Micky were of my sister’s age. I would see Izzy sitting on a bench in the tiny backyard and talk for a bit during the day. After she and Joe moved to their new home, we didn’t see the. The Guidetti’s and our other North Alvord Street neighbors were like family to each other.
My parents passed away in 1997/98. I will always have those memories! I remember visiting her at the Lerner Shop whil I was searching for a part time position during high school in the 70’s. I have a photo from my parent’s collection that I have scanned to keep! I don’t think I was born yet. Maybe around 1955-56.
My sympathy to the Guidetti Family on your loss of Isabella and John, this year!
Sincerely,
Dave Muolo
