Isabella (Duca) Guidetti's Obituary
Isabella (Duca) Guidetti, 100, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2022, at Sunnyside Care Center. She was born in Syracuse to the late Nicholas and Mary Duca and worked for many years for Lerner’s Shops. She was truly one-of-a-kind; feisty, fearless, and quite the Fashionista! Fashion was Isabella’s passion, during her time at Lerner’s, she learned a lot about clothing and fashion - knowledge that she passed down to her grandchildren, all of who reaped the benefits of her passion for fashion; many times spending her whole paycheck on wardrobes for all of us. Isabella was always supportive of family and friends, but wasn’t afraid to give you her opinion! She was a sports fanatic and loved to cheer on her favorite teams, especially the NY Yankees, Syracuse Mets, and all SU sports teams. Isabella enjoyed caring for her home and family, often tending to her garden and treating her loved ones to delicious homemade meals. She also adored playing cards and other games of chance, Bingo, in particular was her favorite. Isabella was indeed, “saucy”, in both the literal and the 2020 sense!
She is predeceased by her husband, John A. Guidetti in 1983; her son, John T. Guidetti in 2022; siblings: Rose (Duca) Reda, Lena Duca, Nicholas Duca and Carmella (Duca) Scheel; brother-in-law, Joseph F. Guidetti; and her pets, Peppy and Mica.
Isabella is survived by her son, Mark “Mickey” (Carolyn) Guidetti; her grandchildren, Cherice (Ricky) Skinner, Maria (Gary) Yorkshire, John A. (Paulina) Guidetti, Mark A. (Christy) Guidetti, Tia (Rich) Guidetti and Mark (Shannon) Buffa; her great-grandchildren, Austin Skinner, Blake Skinner, Savannah Skinner, Joshua Yorkshire, Anthony J. (John) Guidetti, Robert Helvelka, Nina Helvelka, Anthony (Mark) Guidetti, Abigail Guidetti, Alexander Guidetti, Alyssa Jennings, Alexis Woodson and Sammy Bovalino; her great-great-grandchildren, Everly Guidetti, Layla Graham, Geno Woodson, Raea Woodson, Liv Jennings and Lena Jennings; 4 step-grandchildren, Debbie Simmons, David Gunther, Kimberly Gunther-Pare and Dawn Rogers; her sister, Dolores (Duca) Swedowski; daughter-in-law, Virginia Guidetti; along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Sunnyside Care Center for their wonderful care of Isabella over the past 6 years.
