James J. Balla's Obituary
James J. Balla, 58, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Friday, April 13 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Buffalo, NY, the son of James E. and the late Audrey M. Balla, James spent 29 years with the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Custody Division. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police for 20 years and was also a lifetime member of Moyers Corners Fire Department. Boating, family camping trips, time with friends at the diner, and annual trips to Disney World are just some of the things he cherished. James was always a happy, lovable, goofy guy who loved being around his family and friends and making them all laugh.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Hogan) Balla; daughter, Kimberly Balla; father, James (Martha) Balla; sisters, Deborah (Frank) Fischer, Sally (Richard) Harvey, Cynthia (Rex) Lashua; brothers, Kevin (Pauline) Balla and Rodney (Gina) Balla; his mother-in-law, Ellen Hogan; many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of James’ life at 10:00 am in St. Margaret’s Church in Mattydale. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of James may be made to the American Heart Association or the Moyers Corners Fire Department.
