Tony and The Vadalas,
Sounds like a doo wop group from the 50's! IN this time of mourning may you grieve in your own way but find the time and space to honor your Mom for the woman she is by laughing about her and sharing stories of how much fun she was. When people cross over one of the common things that get reported back to this side of the veil is how much the deceased are at peace and how much happier they are to not be in an old body, struggling with daily tasks and our pal, gravity. They want for us to be happy. To celebrate. To rejoice in their life. Said best by Dr. Suess: "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." Your Mother's life was a great one and she produced her children who in turn produced people like me (an OCC graduate who is out living his dreams in the world, thanks to Tony being an AMAZING teacher).
Tony,
Your compassion, loving heart, kind disposition and stern conviction of a strong and true moral compass is old school and an example for all to live up to in a world where people would rather take short cuts than the scenic route. I am so grateful to know you, to have you be one of my teachers, to call you a friend and for all the amazing memories I have from our time together in Syracuse. To all that, I thank you Mom as well. For her greatest production was the show I tuned into for years... being a cast member in your life.
To those family members reading this,
I met Joanne a few times and like the good little italian ladies in my family she was all of 4'9" from what I remember and full of spunk, pizazz and any other old timey word that describes women you treat kindly because you DO NOT want to cross them. She was sweet and kind and made killer sauce. She is at rest now and at peace. Having lived a full life. Remember... the best way to honor our parents, living or passed onto the other side, it to have an amazing life. So be happy. Laugh often. Love much. And live in her honor by making the time you have left a tribute to the joy of living. And do what I do when I lost my gramma... do something each week that she loved to do. AS a little secret tribute. Dance in the living room. Clean something. Take a walk. Talk to strangers. Volunteer your time. PIck up trash. Those things always make her appear before me and keep her in my heart.
God speed Joanne.
85 amazing years.
How lucky we all are to have known/met/been graced by you.
love,
(Tom) Boise in Los Angeles

Joanne was the best neighbor we ever had. She was a delight to know. we lived in the same building at village green and couldn't wait to have some of her Christmas cookies. We just looked up her address yesterday to send her this years card. God Bless her and her dear family neil and joan agrasto
