Dear Carmella,
Know that we too are saddened by John’s death and offer our sincere condolences to you and Benny.
Decades ago , we were youngsters growing up in one of the best periods of our history when the corner of N. Salina and Division Street was the meeting place for the immigrant community.
Long before Williams, Sweetheart Market and other giant supermarkets, we remember the Campolo Meat Market in the 600 block of N Salina Street, just a short distance from our parent’s business, and we remember the friendship and personal touch Uncle Bruno and John Campolo offered to all who did business there.
And we recall the joy you and Benny brought to John’s life.
John’s pleasant demeanor and friendly way of dealing with people were elements of “a genuine person”. From time to time we would see him and when we took notice, the spring of our years had turned to winter. …….. And now we mourn his passing .and say Buon Ripose, old friend” “ Sarge” to many who knew him, served his family, his friends and his country warmly and respectfully. “ He was a good man” !
