John J. Capria's Obituary
Peacefully and surrounded by his family, John J. Capria of Camillus, NY, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 at the age of 82 years.
John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Rosemary (Grago) Capria; children, Gina (Mike) Messenger and Johnny (Takako) Capria; grandchildren, Mick (Alicia) Messenger, Phillip (Nicole) Messenger, Theresa Messenger (Colin Albright), Gio Capria and Sachi Capria; great-grandchildren, Kirsten, Parker, Silas and Angelina; siblings, Mark (Christine) Capria; along with numerous other family members and friends who meant the world to him.
He graduated from North High School and SUNY Oswego. John was a member of the NYS National Guard and a retired Deputy Sheriff. He was also a member of the Catholic church and shared his love for Christ with his family and friends.
The family would like to send a very special thank you to Dr. Thomas Grady, along with all the wonderful nurses and doctors at St. Joseph’s ICU who cared for John in his final days with us.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Hugo Sr. & Theresa (Creatore) Capria and siblings, Amelia (Obit), Hugo Jr., James and Paul.
John would tell you he lived a “life of gold” and will be greatly missed for his sincerity, generosity, humor, and much more.
Calling hours will be from 4 – 7 pm on Friday, September 3, 2021 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 am on September 4, 2021 in St. Joseph Church, Camillus. John will be laid to rest with members of the Capria family in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
