John R. Durling, 70, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on July 16, 2019. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Clarence F. and Marjorie A. Durling, and served in the National Guard 174t Read Obituary
My deepest sympathy on the death of your husband, father and grandfather. I just stopped by the fish market yesterday and inquired about John and was told that he died. I am so sorry...I knew John and Judy when they were in Mattydale...I would come in each Friday to purchase fish for my elderly parents and told John..."you can't put the prices on the bags"...he knew me as such and would always mark a separate plate...I met you Judy at the cash register...we had an instant connection the day that you checked me out...I walked out the door and thought...this can't be right...because the amount was too little...I came back in and you said to me..."oh, I forgot to charge you for the scallops". You thanked me for being honest and I always thought with fondness the hard work that you and your husband exemplified. Again...I am so sorry...sorry I missed the notification...would have gone to the services to give you all a hug. I remember my friend Judy Stuhler working there...may they be laughing and watching over all together.

After meeting John D in Guards and staying in touch at the fish market all these years I found a great guy in John D as I called him. We always met up at the base and when I worked in the Syr area I always went to LeMoyne St to get my fish sangwiches for me & co workers too. John D & Judy always had the Best Fish & salads every day. I even used to travel to B,Ville for his fish.
Rest In Peace John D as you will be missed by all who knew you. May God Bless You & Your Family too.

Judy, I was deeply saddened when I heard about John’s passing. It’s been nearly over 23 years now and to this day I still talk about “the fish store”. Judy, you and John, made my first job the very best and memorable one ever! And for that I thank you and John ❤️ I was very blessed to have my Atlantic Seafood family. Everyone welcomed me with open arms! I will always have such great and find memories of “the fish store” and of you and John because there was always a smile on your and John’s face whenever you came out to the B’ville store 💙 My heart goes out to you and your family!!
