Dr. John F. Gorman's Obituary
Dr. John F. Gorman, 83, of Fayetteville, passed away Friday, September 12, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was born on July 3, 1931 in Utica, NY to Brigid and John Gorman. John was a graduate of Notre Dame University and Upstate University School of Medicine. He did his fellowship at Sloan Kettering in New York City and practiced medicine in Upstate New York. John was highly respected by his patients and peers for his care and kindness throughout the years. He won the Robert Nesbit Society Award for 50 years of distinguished service as a Gynecologist. John was a member of the New York Athletics Club, Onondaga Country Club, American College of Gynecology, and Onondaga County Medical Society. Dr. John Gorman was a loving husband, father, and friend, to know him was to love him. He was an extraordinary man of faith, kindness, and love. His children and grandchildren were the love of his life.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Martha (Lynch) Gorman; his loving children, Kevin (Marci) Gorman, Paul Gorman, Mary Beth Gorman, and Sheila (Christopher) Larkin; six cherished grandchildren, Jarrett, Amber, Conor, John, Lily, and Brigid; his sister, Jean Gorman; his cousin, Maureen Miletta, and his Bassett Hound, “Bridie”.
A funeral mass in celebration of John’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Church, Fayetteville. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt. Family and friends may attend calling hours at the church, 400 Salt Springs Street, Fayetteville, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church, Syracuse, Immaculate Conception Church, Fayetteville, or The Sisters of St. Joseph’s Pension Fund.
