John A. Mody, Jr.'s Obituary
John A. Mody, Jr., of Syracuse, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Rome, NY, and graduated from Rome Free Academy. A competitive athlete, John played baseball and football. He continued his football career at Colgate University, where he received his bachelor’s degree. After graduating college, John moved to Syracuse, where he began a career in real estate. John was the owner and operator of Mercury Appraisers, Inc. in Syracuse, a real estate agent with John Sweeney Real Estate, and partner of Resurgent Properties. John and Sarah were married in 2011, and the day they treasure most was the day their daughter, Marisa, was born. John was a fantastic and fun father, and a wonderful husband. John will be remembered by his larger than life personality, for constantly playing jokes on his friends and family, and being a fierce athlete.
John is survived by his loving wife, Sarah Tucci Mody; his daughter, Marisa Rose Mody; his parents, Rosemary (Verrenti) and John A. Mody, Sr., brothers, Daniel (Jamie) Mody and Timothy (Amy) Mody and; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of John’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
