Joseph A. Basile, Sr.'s Obituary
Joseph A. Basile, Sr., 89, of East Syracuse, passed away after a long illness, on December 7, 2018. Born in Syracuse, NY on October 14, 1929, Joe was a life resident of Central New York. He was a self-employed developer and served as president of Basile Construction Company for more than 55 years. His greatest business legacy, however, is the many individuals he mentored and inspired as they pursued their own vision of business success. Joe never said can’t or no to anyone or anything and whether in business or in helping others, he always found a way. His life was marked by enduring friendships and connections to family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Ida Basile and his brother, Frank Basile.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary (Albanese) Basile; his son, Joseph (Kim) Basile, Jr. and his daughter, Andrea (Scott) Terrillion. His affection for his four grandchildren, Marc, Nina and Stefan Basile and Zach Terrillion, was endless and enduring. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Capocefalo; sister-in-law, Delores Basile, and several nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services were held on December 12, 2018 at St. Matthews Church in East Syracuse and Woodlawn Cemetery.
Contributions in his memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or St. Matthew’s Church.
