Joseph V. "Joe" Daloia's Obituary
Joseph V. “Joe” Daloia, 86, of Syracuse, passed away Saturday at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Syracuse on January 22, 1930 and attended North High School. Joe was a Korean War veteran and helped develop the Veteran Amos Park Project on the Northside. He loved to dance and was a huge Sinatra fan. Joe was a member of the Holy Name Society at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church and a member of the Italian American Athletic Club. He was Past President of the Northside Neighborhood Group and was a big contributor to the Northside Columbus Day Celebration and was Christopher Columbus. Joe volunteered his time working with the North Area Athletic Club helping with special Boxing events and cooked every Friday for the Breakfast Club. He was so proud of Syracuse and the progress of the city throughout the years. Joe dedicated his life to the Northside community.
He was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Elsie (Mucci) Daloia and his grandson, David L. Becker II.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Lorraine (Clifford) Daloia; his son, William Daloia of N. Syracuse; his two daughters, Elisa Daloia of N. Syracuse and Valerie Becker of Auburn, NY; three step-daughters, Michele (Joseph) Polzer, Nina (William) McGee and Lorrie (Gary) Allnut and their families; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Joe’s life at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. The Holy Name Society will recite their ritual at 3:30 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
