There will never be enough words to describe you and how much we all miss you. I miss your stories and your laugh. One of my favorite times with you would be when you would come Christmas morning and drink a cup of coffee talking to us while we were prepping dinner. Just catching up and joking around. It was so simple yet there was so much joy. You were truly one of a kind and I thank you for never missing a milestone that we've had. Please rest in peace and watch over us. I find comfort knowing your with grandma, grandpa, uncle Tony and our loved ones. I love and miss you forever and always!

From the first time I met you, you made me feel incredibly welcomed. Every time you greeted me with that raspy, familiar "How are you, sweetheart?" and a kiss on the cheek, it warmed my heart more than I can say. Thank you for welcoming me into your family so effortlessly, with kindness, love, and warmth. I am so incredibly grateful to have gained you as a grandfather.
You were a hero long before I knew you—a firefighter, a protector, a man with a fierce love for the Lions and just a little too much faith in the lottery. But more than anything, you were a cornerstone in the family.
I’ll miss hearing your voice, stories about the latest fire calls/ adventures, and your theories on which lotto tickets are automatic winners (certain numbers worked almost every time for you!). But most of all, I’ll miss the strength and warmth you gave just by being yourself.
Thank you for everything, Papa Joe. I’m so lucky to have known you. And proud to be part of your amazing family.

It is hard to say just one memory that can truly explain how amazing Papa Joe was. However, one attribute that was admired was his ability to put himself aside and focus on others. I believe that anyone that knew him would agree with that. It didn't matter if he was on a fire call, attending a party, or even just having a conversation. He would always see how the other people were doing before telling a great story. The talks with him at holidays and car rides will be remembered forever. Please rest easy and watch over the rest of us. I know that I'll be looking forward to the time when we can share in another laugh. Until then, I'll try to make you proud. Thank you for everything.
