Joseph A. Militi's Obituary
Joseph A. Militi, 79, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully Friday surrounded by his loving family. He was the owner and president of Joseph A. Militi Construction Company, Inc. retiring in 1994. Joe was a member of the Italian American Athletic Club and Holy Name Society at Our Lady of Pompei. He was an avid card player and golfer and was chairman of the annual Militi / Raulli Golf Open. Joe spent the last 10+ years working with his friends at Vallar Tile and Marble. He enjoyed traveling with his bride and spent many hours along the sidelines of his grandchildren's sporting events. In addition to his parents Vincenzo and Concetta he was predeceased by his son, Michael E. Vendetti in 1998 and his sister, Josephine Tamilia. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Nellie (Burkart) Militi; his children, Valeri J. Vendetti of Eastwood, Joseph M. (Kelly) Militi of Westvale, Jimmy V. Militi of Syracuse and Stephen A. (Michelle) Militi of Cicero; 11 grandchildren, Janell, Jenna, Dana, Ryan, Mackenzie, Michael, Gianna, Mason Vittoria, Nicolette and Eva; sister, Vita Lobdell of Westvale along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or the American Heart Association.
