Valerie, Suzie, David and Steve...
I have many fond childhood memories of time spent at 115 Rider Ave. Your mom created a place that made people feel welcome and at home. She was the calm and patient voice of authority who so skillfully managed the harmless but never ending chaos created by her own children and all of us who were fortunate enough to call ourselves your friends. Your mom may have often been the shortest person in the room but all of us looked up to her; she was the benevolent boss and we loved her.
There must have been times when your Mom wanted to send all of the "extra" children home so she could get some peace and quiet but she never let it show. Looking back, it occurs to me that I was a childhood squatter. Who would have ever wanted to leave the Morga residence? Besides all the girl stuff that was going on (Barbie Dolls, hopscotch, walks down the hill to Gabriel's and later to Mundy Branch Library)there was so much to learn from observing the comings and goings of older brothers David and Steve. I'm positive my introduction to the Beach Boys and to a vehicle known as a "Corvette" took place at Morga's house. And Suzie, you were the cutest little sister ever. I hope we didn't pick on you too much but we probably did.
Valerie... Friday nights at the bowing alley with your dad, weekend sleepovers, Sunday mass at Our Lady of Pompei, Columbus Bakery for warm Italian bread. So many great, great memories of time spent with you and your family, thanks to the generosity and good nature of both of your wonderful parents.
Wishing your family comfort and peace. Loved your parents and love you all.
